CANADA'S GREAT NORTHERN STYLE CEREAL, in our opinion, is both better tasting and healthier than Red River. Canadian Pioneers would have manufactured it this way... small scale production using simple, readily available ingredients: cracked wheat, rye, flax, and wild rice. 

CANADA'S GREAT NORTHERN STYLE CEREAL is not made the same as Red River. It is manufactured on a much smaller scale with the natural flavouring of wild rice. You will experience a taste much closer to what the Canadian Pioneer would have experienced. It is not only better tasting but also healthier. Thank you for your past patronage. It is appreciated!

    After 2+ years of no luck finding Red River cereal and then learning it is no longer made was awful news. We eat porridge all through Fall and Winter. Through a woman who posted a blog about our common plight, I learned about this brand and ordered 6 2lb bags immediately based on what she shared. AND we are extremely happy with Canada’s Great Northern hot cereal. A 1/4c mixed with 1c of steel cut oats makes a healthy hearty breakfast. It’s VERY much like what we ate for many many yrs as kids. As a gift I ordered the same quantity for family in AB who also miss Red River cereal. They are very grateful. I highly recommend this product!

    I buy this all the time. I do it in my slow cooker. The recipe I have uses rolled oats as well, apple, raisins, cinnamon, pinch of salt, water or half water and half milk or all milk. It makes enough for a few days. It keeps well in the fridge, just add some milk and reheat. Great product!!!

    Great tasting cereal

    I have been unable to find the Red River hot cereal in the grocery store for a few years. Somehow I found a blog about hot cereal that had provided the Canada's food website. I ordered right away and I am so happy. I cook the cereal in my small rice cooker with an apple and cinnamon for a great hot cereal.

    I am so pleased with this product. It shipped in a week. The cereal is much like Red River but I agree with the advertisement - it tastes better. It is wonderful to have another healthy traditional hot cereal option. Thanks to the good folks at Canadas Food Company and Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo, Ontario, for making this available.

Everybody loves Saskatoons! It was a staple in in the native american diet - used for both food and medicine. The craving continued through early pioneers to where some people to-day suggest a cult following. Many of our customers have never heard of this berry. This is because it grows primarily in Canada's Praries and Far North. Also....up until recently there was no commercially viable method for harvesting. Saskatoons have become a true success story not only for its flavor but also because of recently published nutritional analysis.

It is generally agreed that the farther North Wild Rice grows the better the quality. The grain gets larger and dark in colour. The taste is more distinct without the "swampy" taste of inferior grades. Our rice is sourced in the far north of Manitoba. It is graded Jumbo Select which is the highest grade available.
